The Chosen One
In Mongolia, each family selects one goat, one sheep, one horse and one yak that will not be eaten or sold. A gift to the herd. They are decorated and treated as special. A goat, a sheep, a yak, a horse - every kind of animal they had a herd of, one would be chosen to be "given back" to the herd. A thank you to the spirits, the animals, nature. Not bred, slaughtered, sold or "used" in any way. These animals were treated extra special - given special foods, decorated with scarves and prayer flags, prayed to.
For life.
